Photographers who
sell the villa.

On Airbnb, Booking and Vrbo, the cover photo does about 80% of the work. A €600 photoshoot pays back the first weekend it moves you up the search rankings — and it keeps paying every booking for the next three or four years. These are the photographers we send our owners to when a listing needs to actually convert.

Architectural photographers, not weekend hobbyists. Every shooter on this list works to real-estate spec — HDR-blended, wide-angle, colour-corrected.

Why it matters

The photo is the product page

Guests browsing Airbnb spend 2–3 seconds on your thumbnail before swiping. If it's a phone snap taken at 2pm with the pool half in shadow and the sofa cushions squashed, they scroll past you and onto the villa two doors down. Nothing else you do to the listing — title, description, price — recovers that.

A professional shoot fixes the ceiling on what your listing can earn. Same villa, same location, same price: better photography typically lifts booking conversion 15–25% and lets you push nightly rates 5–15% without hurting occupancy. It's the single highest-ROI spend an AL owner makes.

How the introduction works

Direct, no markup

Tell us the villa, roughly when you want the shoot, and whether you need drone and dusk. We introduce you to the photographer we think best fits the property — some are better on modern minimal interiors, others on classic quintas. Quote and shoot date come back direct. You pay the photographer. No markup, no referral fee.

If the villa needs a refresh before the camera comes out (repaint, new bedding, cushions, art on the walls), we'll say so before you spend the money on the shoot. A great photographer can't rescue scuffed skirting boards.

Local context

Vilamoura light and drone rules

The Algarve gets 300+ days of usable light a year, but the best exterior shots are April–June and September–October, when the sun is lower and the pool water still reads turquoise. July–August is workable but the midday light burns highlights and the marina is crowded for drone.

Drone flights over Vilamoura require an INAC-registered operator and an approved flight plan; several zones near the marina and the A22 have restrictions. Every drone shooter on our list handles the permitting; if a photographer offers to fly without paperwork, they're not on our list.

Common questions

How much does a professional shoot cost?+

€400–€600 for a 2-bed apartment (25–35 delivered images). €700–€900 for a 4-bed villa with pool (40–60 images). Add €150–€250 for licensed drone footage, €100–€150 for a twilight/dusk set. All-in for a full villa package with drone and dusk: around €1,000.

How long does a shoot take?+

Half a day on site for a 2-bed, a full day for a larger villa if drone and dusk shots are included. Edited images delivered within 5–7 working days. Rush turnaround (48h) is available for a 30% surcharge.

Do I need to stage the villa first?+

The photographer will style what's already there — beds made hotel-tight, kitchen surfaces cleared, towels rolled, pool cleaned — but they don't bring furniture. If the villa is empty or transitional, add an interior designer or a home-stager into the process first.

What licence do I get on the photos?+

Full commercial licence for your own listings across Airbnb, Booking, Vrbo, direct site, socials and print — in perpetuity. Sub-licensing to a portal or a resale agent is a separate conversation with the photographer.
