A trusted sitter is the difference between a couple's night at the marina and no night out for a week. These are the sitters we introduce to families staying in villas we manage — the ones we'd leave with our own kids.

Evening sitters and daytime nannies
Two very different services, often confused. An evening sitter arrives around 18:00, gives dinner if needed, does the bath-and-bed routine, and stays until the parents are back — usually before midnight. A daytime nanny picks the kids up mid-morning, spends the day at the beach, pool or in the villa, and hands back around dinner. The good ones do both.
For families with three or more kids, or with infants, a two-sitter split is standard. Pricing scales linearly.

Direct introduction
Once we know the family's stay dates, ages of children, and roughly which evenings they want to be out, we forward the request to the sitter agency. They respond within 24 hours with a named sitter, hourly rate, and any special notes (e.g. the sitter's own car, whether they can stay past midnight). Guests confirm and pay the sitter directly.
For long stays or repeat visits, families often build a relationship with one specific sitter and re-book directly next trip. That's fine — we're not here to gate-keep the relationship.
What sitters typically do
Vilamoura is built for families — safe beaches, walkable marina, traffic-calmed residential streets. Daytime nannies typically split the day between the villa pool and a short walk to Falésia beach, with gelato at the marina late afternoon. Evening sitters know the local delivery joints and the villa's remote controls before parents leave for dinner.
Common questions
How much does a babysitter cost in Vilamoura?+
€15–€22 per hour for an evening sitter, with a 4-hour minimum. Daytime nannies for full-day care run €120–€180/day. Rates rise slightly for 3+ children or for after-midnight finishes. Payment is direct to the sitter, cash or Revolut/MB WAY.
How much notice do sitters need?+
48 hours in shoulder season is comfortable. In August we recommend 5–7 days for evening bookings, as the good sitters are booked out. Same-day is sometimes possible but not something to plan around.
Are sitters insured and vetted?+
Yes. Every sitter on our list carries personal liability insurance, holds a current paediatric first-aid certificate, and has provided a Portuguese Registo Criminal (criminal-record check). We renew all three annually.
Do sitters speak English?+
All of them. Most are Portuguese native speakers with fluent English. Some also speak French, German or Spanish — flag the language preference at booking.
